Directions to Harbin Hot Springs

The following directions are for Harbin Hot Springs, 18424 Harbin Springs Rd, Middletown, California 95461. Harbin is about 90 miles North of San Francisco, just north of the Napa valley, near Middletown, CA. 707.987.2477.

GPS Systems: (Note: Be aware that some onboard navigation systems have lead those driving through Cobb onto the unpaved Bogg Mountain Springs fire road. Do not attempt to access Harbin on this road. If you find yourself on an unpaved road, turn around.) 

Arriving By Shuttle or Bus

The Aero Shuttle & Charter offers shuttle service to Middletown from Sacramento International Airport. Reservations required: 707-987-1920 or toll free 1-888-987-AERO (2376). Ride service from Middletown may be arranged through the Harbin reception department with advance notice.

The Sonoma County Airport Express offers transport from San Francisco Airport and Oakland Airport to Santa Rosa. Call 1-800-327-2024 or (707) 837-8700 for details. Golden Gate Transit offers service to Santa Rosa from four downtown SF locations.

Driving from Middletown (for everyone)

Once you arrive in Middletown, turn West onto Hwy 175 aat the Light.
Drive three short blocks to Barnes St. (Big Canyon Rd.) and turn right.
Drive 1.2 miles to Harbin Springs Road, turning left at the fork at the top of the hill. (Note: Harbin Springs Road is a narrow, curving road with no shoulders and poor visibility. You may suddenly encounter cattle, wildlife, walkers, joggers or bicyclists, so please drive slowly.)
Follow road for 2 miles to our gate house.
Tell them what workshop you are attending and sign-in. Ask for a map and directions to the Mountain Lodge.
Warning: Obey local speed limits unless you want to meet the police or sherrif personally.

From San Francisco and the Airport

Hwy 101 North through San Francisco (Golden Gate Bridge) to just North of Santa Rosa
Exit on River Road/Mark West Springs Road/Calistoga (one exit past Mendocino Ave)
East on Mark West Springs Road (11 miles) It becomes Porter Creek Hwy after about 5 miles and ends at the flashing red light. Turn Left on Petrified Forest Road, following the signs for Calistoga (4.3 miles). It ends and turn Left onto Hwy 128/Foothill Blvd (approximately 8/10s of a mile). Right on Tubbs Lane that ends at 1.3 miles. Turn Left on Hwy 29, over the mountain to Middletown (about 17 miles)

From Sacramento

Drive North on I-5 for 58 miles to the town of Williams.
Exit West on CA- 20 for 37 miles.
Turn Left onto CA- 53, which turns into CA-29 south, into Middletown.

I-880 North to I-80 East past Vallejo to Hwy 37 ("To Napa"); exit at East Vallejo. Drive West about 1 mile to Hwy 29. North on Hwy 29 to Calistoga. Turn Right at light in Calistoga to stay on Hwy 29 to Middletown

The "Silverado Trail" alternative

Take the Silverado Trail by getting off Hwy 29 around Napa and taking Trancas through town to Silverado. Worth the effort, if you have time. It has some great valley views.
