Play Dates

What is an Adult Play Date?

Many people find the sight of children playing very charming, and it is also very important developmentally. However, adults having a Play Date? I couldn't. What if people saw me. What if I really enjoyed letting go and having fun?

An adult Play Date is an alternative to the everyday club scene, most adult parties, and many socail gatherings. At its base is the encouragement to let go, let your hair down, get rambunctious and playful.

Play is an important part of development for many organisms, and it stimulates imagination, problem solving, and cooperation skills. An ideal adult Play Date is fun for all involved as well as beneficial to the social development of the adults at play. It can become the bases for a new type of "community". "The community that plays together, stays together."

An adult Play Date is an organized period of time during which two or more adults get together to play. Adult Play Dates allow adults to relax , socialize with each other, and enjoy themselves.

Tips on Organizing a Play Date

Organizing an adult Play Date is relatively simple, but there are some things to take into account.

  • Make sure to be specific about location and time when you make plans with others.
  • The activities of an adult Play Date may be structured or unstructured. In-door games, board games, show-n-tell, out-door games like tag, soft-ball, splashing in a pool, going to an event like a concert, bowling, pizza, playing pool, biking in the park, a roller or ice skating rink, attending a County or State Fair or a Renessance Faire, a movie at an IMAX theatre or interactive mueums like the Exploritorium in San Francisco or Science Works in Ashland or the Magic House in St. Louis' Children's Museum where attendees are encouraged to explore and interact relatively freely.
  • Encouraging the child within to lighten up and play with friends

Getting started

  • Come to one of our Community Gatherings
  • Call up the people in your area whom you went through a workshop with.
  • Contact us and let us know about your plans and if you would like a notice sent out to other graduates in your area.

It's a great environment to explore open hearted, non-sexual intimacy.
